We recently welcomed our newest apprentice, Ollie to the team!
Ollie has joined our team of mechanics in our garage who are responsible for looking after our fleet. In this Q&A, we caught up with Ollie to learn more about his role, what he enjoys about working in our team and more
What is your role and what does a typical day look like for you?
As an Apprentice Mechanic, I spent a lot of time learning from other mechanics and beginning to work independently on jobs once I know how to do them.
When did you join the Dennis Distribution team?
I’ve had an interest in trucks since I was young and enquired about truck washing when I was at school. I spent some time in the garage and enjoyed it and was then offered an apprentice job.
What is your favourite thing about your role?
I really enjoy learning how everything works and how to fix issues on the trucks, it’s good to be involved in getting them back on the road, I like getting stuck in!.
What is your favourite thing about working at Dennis Distribution?
My favourite thing is the great working environment and the support I receive from everyone in the workshop.
Outside of work, what are your hobbies or interests?
I love to go rock climbing and mountain biking as well as going out in my mate’s truck.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue a career similar to yours?
Don’t be afraid to ask for opportunities in the industry you have a passion for, then it will be like working for fun!
