This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating our female drivers including our Class 1 driver, Holly! Take a read of our Q&A with Holly below.
What is your role and what does a typical day look like for you?
My role involves pulling fridges on trunk runs to RDCs or taking loads to smaller companies. I sometimes do multi drop runs. Much of the work is delivering meat but we also have other contracts and it takes me all over the country.
When did you join the Dennis Distribution team?
I’ve been part of team for 7 months. I’d heard from other drivers it was a good company to work for. and the 4 on 4 off rota also seemed appealing
What is your favourite thing about your role?
I like days when I have to get in the trailer and move pallets myself and be involved in tipping. It breaks the day up and I like the exercise to be honest
What is your favourite thing about working at Dennis Distribution?
Everyone in the team gets on and has been very helpful and encouraging
Outside of work, what are your hobbies or interests?
I built a campervan so spend a lot of time away in that. While away i go walking with my dog or biking in places like the Yorkshire Dales.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue a career similar to yours?
I’d say go for it but be prepared for long days. It becomes a lifestyle as much as a job.
Thanks to Holly for sharing your insights into life as a female driver, we’re so proud to have you in our team!
