Our drivers are an integral part of the Dennis Distribution team, so we wanted to shine a spotlight on our drivers, their careers and what they bring to our team! For our first driver spotlight, we spoke to Richard Todd who has been part of our team for over 10 years.
What inspired you to become a driver?
I have always loved driving and the freedom that being a lorry driver gives you.
How long have you been a driver for?
I have been a driver for 12 years now.
When did you join the Dennis Distribution team?
I joined Dennis Distribution nearly 10 and a half years ago. Being a local boy, I have grown up seeing Dennis trucks all my life and knowing that they were a small family firm attracted me to join the company.
What do you enjoy most about being a driver?
I really enjoy being my own boss, seeing different parts of the country and gaining knowledge of the industry and UK roads.
What’s the most interesting or unusual load you’ve transported?
I transported cow hides to Italy.
Outside of work, what are your hobbies or interests?
Outside of work, I enjoy watching rugby, gaming, socialising, dining out and visiting different places.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue a career similar to yours?
Do it! The job can be very challenging but rewarding too!
